Steve began his musical career working
for a well-known music publisher in Tin Pan Alley, where he became involved in
the business of 'song-plugging'. He became acutely fond of jazz and formed a
quintet, with which he travelled all over the country, playing and broadcasting,
and securing work at prestigious places, such as The 100 Club, The Latin
Quarter, Churchills, and numerous jazz clubs, including the ultimate London jazz
venue, The Ronnie Scott Club.
There came a change in the jazz scene
and Steve decided to put his suitcase away and do something different. He
turned to 'pop' music and decided to turn his hand to studio 'session' work; but
he became very frustrated with the repetitive demands on his musical skills and
he was soon yearning again for the concert platform.
He went into the music trade, where he
became European Concert Artiste for the mighty Yamaha organisation. This took
him all over the Continent, where he made a reputation for himself, not only as
a jazz musician, but of an all-round performer and entertainer. Through the
results of his highly-successful tours, he was given his own programme on
Icelandic Television.
He is well-known and
respected throughout the country, and on the continent for his
highly-personalised, easy style of music. He is a concert artiste who is
equally at home playing electronic organ, piano, synthesiser or keyboards and
his music ranges from classics, ballads, pop, boogie woogie and, of course,
jazz!
